It’s no surprise that Americans love their food, but when it comes to the 4th of July, things can sometimes get a little out of control. It’s hard to control yourself when you’re surrounded by BBQ, corn on the cob, potato salad… and don’t even get me started on the apple pie! 🤤You could be casually working through a delicious fruit kebab one minute, and before you know it, you’re guzzling down your second weenie in a race to beat Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi in the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. 🌭But, not this year!

This year is going to be different… I’ve got five healthy 4th of July recipes that are as nutritious for you as they are delicious, and you won’t have to worry about overindulging! What’s even better is that these patriotic recipes are ones the whole family will love! Trust me when I say that after you try these yummy treats, you’ll want to add them to the list of holiday traditions. 🇺🇸

Patriotic Yogurt Bark

If you’re looking for a light and scrumptious treat that isn’t doused in chocolate, this patriotic yogurt bark is right up your alley! It’s a combination of vanilla Greek yogurt, fresh berries, agave, and protein-packed Super Youth collagen. It provides just a touch of sweetness to satisfy your cravings, without overdoing it.

  • 1 pint blueberries
  • About 1 cup of strawberries, sliced
  • Parchment paper

  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt and honey.
  3. Pour and spread the yogurt mixture into the base of the lined baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the different berries and gently press into the yogurt.
  5. Freeze for at least 2 hours or until completely frozen.
  6. Use a knife to make the first “break” and then you can break with your hands. Break into serving size pieces and serve cold.

Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas

When it comes to healthy 4th of July food, you can’t beat a frozen banana drizzled in red, white, and blue chocolate! This recipe is a crowd favorite not just for kids, but for adults too!

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 2 Hours

Total time: 2+ hours

Servings: 4-8 servings

chocolate covered frozen bananas

Ingredients:

  • 2-4 bananas
  • Chocolate melting wafers or chocolate chips
  • 1 scoop Super Youth Chocolate Cake
  • Red, white, & blue candy melts
  • Lollipop sticks
  • 4th of July sprinkles and red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions:

  1. Peel the bananas and then cut them in half.
  2. Place each banana piece on a lollipop stick.
  3. Freeze the bananas for at least two hours.
  4. Melt the chocolate melting wafers or chocolate chips in the microwave and mix in 1 scoop of Super Youth Chocolate Cake. Once mixed, cover the frozen bananas with the melted chocolate.
  5. If you are going to decorate your frozen bananas with sprinkles, add the sprinkles before the chocolate hardens. If you want to drizzle on candy melts, place the frozen bananas back in the freezer until the chocolate is completely hardened.
  6. For the candy drizzle, place the red, white, and blue candy melts in individual Ziploc bags. Place the plastic bags in the microwave. Start around 30-40 seconds and massage the candy to mix the chocolate together. Continue in 10-second increments until the candy is fully melted.
  7. Once the candy melts are melted, cut the corner tip off the bag and drizzle the candy over the frozen bananas.
  8. Place the decorated frozen bananas back in the freezer until you are ready to serve them.

Peach Pie Ice Cream Sandwich

Would it really be 4th of July without pie and ice cream? While this killer combo might be one of the most traditional patriotic recipes, it doesn’t have the best reputation for being healthy. So, instead of a sugar-filled dessert, why not try this healthy peach mango sorbet sandwich made with fiber biscuits!

Prep time: 15 minutes

Cook time: 2 Hours

Total time: 2+ hours

Servings: 4 servings

peach ice cream sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 3 large, ripe bananas
  • ½ cup frozen peaches
  • ½ cup frozen mango chunks
  • ¼ cup vanilla almond milk
  • 2 scoops Super Youth Peach Mango
  • 6-8 fiber biscuits

Instructions:

  1. Peel bananas and slice into ½ inch discs. Arrange banana slices in a single layer on a large plate or baking sheet and freeze solid (about 1-2 hours).
  2. Using a food processor, blend the frozen mangos, peaches, and bananas with ¼ cup of almond milk scraping down the sides if necessary (add the almond milk slowly until you get a thick and creamy texture).
  3. Once blended, add two scoops of Super Youth Peach Mango and blend until Super Youth is completely mixed.
  4. Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan, cover with plastic wrap, and place in the freezer for an additional 30 minutes.
  5. Place 1-2 scoops of sorbet between two fiber biscuits to create a sandwich. Serve immediately or place back in the freezer for later.
